Are you preparing to install or fix your roof? Fantastic! But before the project begins, there are some vital questions that you should not miss asking your roofing contractor. Because roofing is an investment. Once you begin, you can’t undo it. So, rather than hurrying into a project, it’s wiser to invest some time and know what is going to happen on your roof.
Below are 5 questions that homeowners usually miss asking the roofing contractor in Sydney before the project starts.
What Is the Project Timeline?
When you precisely know how long the roof project will last, it will assist you in planning your days well. You do not need unexpected delays or workers arriving at odd hours.
So, request a definitive timeline, from the beginning date to the scheduled completion. Also, ask if they will be working on weekends, and what they do about weather-related delays. A reliable contractor always has a proper schedule.
Who Will Be On-Site During the Project?
You need to know who’s actually working on your roofing project. Will it be the same crew each day?
Ask whether the contractor will use his own team or third-party workers on your property. And ask who will be in charge of the team and whom you can call if you need information. Homeowners need to know who to contact if something happens.
How Will You Protect My Property?
Roofing is messy work. Nails, trash, ladders—stuff gets damaged if not treated right.
Inquire from the contractor how they will shield your landscaping, windows, driveway, and other surfaces from damage during the project. A good roofing contractor has the best solutions to keep your property clean and secure.
What If Something Unexpected Arises?
At times, after the removal of the old roof, concealed damage is revealed. And, you don’t need a surprise that will disrupt the budget.
So, get the contractor to explain how they deal with unexpected problems, such as wood rot, mould, etc. Will they stop the job and call you first? Will there be a new price quote? Make sure you and the contractor are both in sync.
What if It Rains or There’s Bad Weather?
Sydney weather is not always predictable. An unexpected downpour can slow the job down, or worse still, destroy an exposed roof.
Ask them what their weather plan is. Will they cover it? Will the work stop or go on? A good contractor will have proper plans and inform you how they’ll keep everything safe in bad weather.
